Saginaw

When Jarvis R. Green first settled on a small plot of land in 1833, he hoped to name it Pontiac, after his hometown in Michigan. When the postal service rejected that name, he changed it to Saginaw, after another Michigan town. In the late 19th century, Saginaw prospered when the railroad decided to make the town its last southern stop on the way to Fort Worth and quickly became home to grain storage and milling facilities. The city is still home to the largest grain storage facility in the world, as well as several large companies, such as Trinity Industries, Cargill, Universal Forest Products, Styrochem International and Northwest Pipe, among many others.

Today, Saginaw is a “Community rich in heritage and traditional family values.” It is also a community that values collaboration between its private and public sectors, and places a special importance on business development. Saginaw is composed of tidy neighborhoods, a varied business district, beautiful parks and a top-rated school system.

Saginaw residents can take advantage of seven parks, as well as a Senior Citizen’s Center, a new aquatic center, a recreation center and a community center, allowing people of all ages to take part in sport, recreation and community activities. Saginaw’s residents also have access to an excellent school system, Eagle Mountain/Saginaw Independent School District, which consistently scores higher than the state and national averages in standardized testing.

Residents of the city also have access to countless recreation, shopping, entertainment and dining opportunities nearby, from the excitement of Fort Worth to the natural beauty of Eagle Mountain Lake.
